We have nailed it. (We think!)
This year we blended something a little special - this Chardonnay is sourced from 2 sites; Churchview Estate and MRVE. We’ve taken the trusty Gin Gin clone vines, famous in Margaret River for their weight, fruit, and aromatics, and paired them with a first-for-us addition: the P58 clone (aka Penfolds 58). A Chardonnay which originated in Montrachet, Burgundy and was then imported and propagated by Penfolds in the mid 60's. This textural clone brings zesty grapefruit, citrus lift, and a bit of punchy drive that perfectly complements the richer, rounder Gin Gin fruit.
Fresh and lively, with stone fruit, lemon blossom, and grapefruit on the nose, flowing into creamy, nutty layers and subtle spice from the oak. It’s a wine that’s both instantly approachable and endlessly interesting. This is classic LS Chardonnay.
