2024 Mataro
Mataro or Mourvedrè or Monastrell, to us it doesn’t matter which name you call it, but what is important is that it’s yummy! Originated in Spain, made popular in the Rhone Valley, and made to be enjoyed by LS Merchants.
Dark plum, mocha, raspberry coulis, bright and juicy with soft fine tannins.
Handpicked in the early morning, crushed and 80% destemmed into an open fermenter with the remaining 20% added as whole bunches. Left to rest for three days to help colour soak from the skins. Thereafter hand plunged once a day, in the mornings to ensure minimal tannin extraction with gentle colour extraction. Pressed to a combination of french and american oak, matured for 8 months.
