2024 Marsanne Roussanne
Our first take on the Rhône Valley classic, grown by legendary viticulturalist John Brocksopp down in Pemberton.
We first met John, the owner of Lilian wines, in 2018. John was the original Viticulturist for Leeuwin Estate and is a remarkable part of not only WA but Australian viticultural history. He planted a trio of Rhône white varietals in 1993, now we are honoured to have the opportunity to purchase his fruit and release the inaugural Marsanne Roussanne.
Handpicked slightly later than the typical LS white wines which leans into the varietal style. Fermented with naturally occurring yeast in large format barrels. Slightly oily texture, ripe yellow and white stone fruits, creamy mouthfeel, slight dried herbs, beautiful phenolic weight and a soft, gentle acidity.
If you like rich full-bodied white whites then this is one for you.
